He was predeceased by: his parents, Augustus Witherspoon and Bertha Gittens Witherspoon; his wife Mary Lynn Witherspoon; his siblings, Johnny, Roy, Leon, Joe, Vern, Katherine, Bunny, Calvin and Blanche; his grandson James Simpkins II; his great grandchild Isabella; and his pet Rusty.
He is survived by: his children, Jeff Witherspoon (Nancy), Julia Miller (Keith) and Jody Witherspoon (Alicia); his grandchildren, Annie Johnson (Tim), Heather Cline (Bobby), Ashley Barlowe (Coty), Amber Witherspoon and Mary Dregley (Jeremy); his great grandchildren, Cheyenne (His), Anna, Adalynn, Trinity, Ethyn, Desiree, Taylor Elizabeth, Jessie James, Olivia, Tyler, Dominick, Arianna and Calvin; his great great grandchild Teagan; and his sisters, Judy Holder and Marie Hyatt.
