He was predeceased by: his parents, Alton Dewey and Lena Christian Dewey; his son David Dewey; and his grandson Robert Dewey. He is survived by: his wife Sammie Lou Bumgarner Dewey; and his children, Carl James Dewey Jr. (Connie), Timothy Dewey of Longs, SC and Carleitha Earls of Granite Falls, NC. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
