He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Edward Sherrard Sr. and Nora May Shepherd Sherrard. He is survived by: his wife Linda Sherrard; his children, Daniel Joseph "Danny" Sherrard (Betty) of Clayton and Nora Elizabeth "Beth" Sherrard of Durham; his sisters, Carol Hayden of Kentucky and Jane Seubert (Chris) of Florida; and his grandchildren, Kristin, Kelsey Sherrard, Dustin and Michael Tant.

Due to Covid-19, a private graveside service will be held at Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Goldsboro.
