It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Kevin Ray Kirkland of Hubert, North Carolina, born in Franklin, Virginia, who passed away on November 23, 2023, at the age of 55, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Ray Kirkland and Katheleen Belangia; and his stepmother Josephine Raleigh Kirkland. He is survived by: his pet Miss Pickles; his children, Sierra Klaumann (Kaylee) of Hubert, Brandon Able (Carl) of Maysville and AJ Kirkland of Hubert; his granddaughter McKenzie Kirkland of Ahoskie; his siblings, Ilene Kirkland of Scottsdale, AZ, Tania Ezell (Freddie) of Windsor and Donald Kirkland of Ahoskie; his former wife Jamie Piland of Woodland, His; his friend Nancy Futrell of Murfreesboro; his stepfather Fred Belangia of Ahoskie; and his stepsiblings, Teressa Rawls (Clay) of Ahoskie, Nancy Chase, Ruth Ann Drew of Ahoskie and James Raleigh (Cherry) of Colerain. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and special friends.
He generously donated his time to remodeling the American Legion building and participating in Habitat for Humanity work in Hertford County.
