He was predeceased by: his parents, Isaac Ray Woody and Dora Jane Clark; and his siblings, Junior Woody and Alma Freeman. He is survived by: his wife Judith McAninch Woody; his children, Julie Bolick of Marion, Linda Payne of Charlotte, Renee North of Maggie Valley, Melissa Barnett (Jonathan Moore) of Canton and Anthony Woody of Weaverville; his grandchildren, Tiffany (Josh), Sylvia (Matthew), Jodi (Kelsie), Cody, Samantha "Sam" (Will), Josh, Kayla and Brianna; his great grandchildren, Emmy, Ben and Keith; and his sisters, Telly of Stanley and Thelma Jean of Old Fort.
