He was predeceased by: his parents, Benjamin Simmons and Emma Simmons; his siblings, Ruth Ray, Edgar Roscoe and Lloyd Simmons; his wives, Bell Simmons and Shirley Simmons; his son Mike Simmons; and his grandson Shawn Simmons.
He is survived by: his son Gene Simmons (Karen); his grandsons, Korey (Ryan) and Denny (Michelle); his great grandchildren, Cameron and Ethan Horton; his daughter-in-law Ann Simmons; his granddaughter Stephanie Simmons; his stepchildren, Gary Ivey (Joy), Mike Ivey and Renee Norris (Carroll); and his stepgrandchildren, Angie Byrd (Scott), Garrett Ivey, April Moore, Michael Ivey (Tracie) and Hayden Norris. He is also survived by five step-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, March 6th 2025 from 12:45 PM to 1:45 PM at the Rogers and Breece Funeral Home (500 Ramsey St, Fayetteville, NC 28301). A funeral service was held on Thursday, March 6th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Rogers and Breece Chapel (500 Ramsey St, Fayetteville, NC 28301).
