It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John M. Melvin of Hope Mills, North Carolina, born in Cumberland, North Carolina, who passed away on March 4, 2022, at the age of 66, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Melvin and Mildred Garner Melvin. He is survived by: his wife Diane Melvin; his son Blake Melvin (Holly); his granddaughters, Anna Melvin and Elizabeth Melvin; his siblings, Cathy Melvin (Ernie Patterson), Rose Field (Vance) and Tom Melvin (Joann); his nephews, Baussman Melvin and Brian Lashley (Jena); his great-nephew Ben Lashley; and his great-niece Lily Lashley.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Hope Mills Presbyterian Church, 3712 S. Main Street, Hope Mills, NC 28348.

“I'm saddened to learn John has passed. I first learned about him from the beautiful flower arrangements he created for St. John's Episcopal Church. My mother served on the Alter Guild & delivered his arrangements to the sick. He did my Mother's funeral in 2001 and my father's 80th and 90th birthday celebrations in 2009 and 2019. My Father now has passed away, so I called John for flowers. Finding John's numbers no longer connect to him was my inkling that he had passed away. RIP, my friend.”
