We are sad to announce that on December 1, 2024, at the age of 89, Sarah Elizabeth Varnum (Holly Springs, North Carolina) passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Ewing Odom Cox and Letha Jane Baxley Cox; her husband John Alvin Varnum of Cary; her grandson Michael Shane Varnum of Wendell; and her siblings, Joyce Fredrick of Red Springs, Jeanette Paul of Concord and Walter Cox of Red Springs.
She is survived by: her children, Alvin Rodney Varnum of Cary, Monica Lynne Varnum Smith (Eric Donald Smith) of Fuquay and David Timothy Varnum of Knightdale; her grandchildren, Virginia Varnum Harris (David Harris) of Holly Springs, Matthew Smith (Casey Smith) of Fuquay, Jonathan Smith of Fuquay and Carlie Varnum of Knightdale; and her great grandchildren, Sydney Harris, Bradley Harris, Nolan Harris of Holly Springs, Hailey Roig, Jordyn McCombs, Landon Smith and Gavin Smith of Fuquay.
A celebration of life was held on Friday, December 6th 2024 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at 804 Rambling Oaks Ln, Holly Springs, NC 27540. Visitation was held on Saturday, December 7th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Westside Baptist Church (527 N Vance St, Red Springs, NC 28377). A funeral service was held on Saturday, December 7th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, December 7th 2024 at the Alloway Cemetery N. Vance (631 W 4th Ave, Red Springs, NC 28377).
