Spano Sr. of Holly Springs, North Carolina, born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, who passed away on February 23, 2024, at the age of 67, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Rocco Spano and Joan Spano. He is survived by: his wife Dawn Spano; his children, Carly Spano, Michael Spano Jr. and Annelise Spano; his grandchildren, Brianna Beck, Blake Beck, Jack Spano, Claire Spano, Ally Giammona and Grayson Weathers; and his brother Rocco Spano (family: Donna Spano, Debra Hornung, Harry Robert Hansen). He is also survived by 7 nieces and nephews, along with his beloved "adopted family" and countless friends who were touched by his warmth.

He began his distinguished career at IBM, where he collaborated with physicians to invent the first standing wheelchair, along with his notable contributions to the foundational developments of AI.
