He was predeceased by: his parents, Dennis Barber and Essie Perry Barber; his wife Janice Bullock Barber; his son Greg Barber; and his siblings, Louis, Carroll, Hurbert, Garland Barber and Ruth Jones.
He is survived by: his daughters, Elaine Jones (Carl) of Columbia, Jackie Thomas (David) of Manteo and Johna Gurganus (Ken) of Williamston; his brother Rev. Paul Barber (Sue) of Sherrills Ford; his grandchildren, Andy Jones (Brooke), Megan McLaughlin (Scott), Clark Gurganus (Miranda), Hayli Cowan (Taylor), Jacquelyn Thomas and Landon Gurganus; and his great grandchildren, Dawson Jones, Crewe Jones, Allie Grace McLaughlin, Lanie Jones, Graham McLaughlin and Blaire Cowan.
