He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard L. Plowden Sr. and Lilla Tyson Plowden. He is survived by: his wife Helen Faye Plowden; his children, Jennifer Boatwright of South Carolina and Richard "Trey" L. Plowden III of South Carolina; his daughter-in-law Adele Ciruti of Texas; and his sisters, Lilla Dale Maxwell and Nancy Lee Oxford of Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shriners Cripple Children Hospital.
