He was predeceased by: his wife Louetta Parrish; his children, John Parrish, Jr. and Ginger Allen; his stepson Richard Wilt; and his parents, Rutherford Sylvester and Clara Wooten Parrish.
He is survived by: his daughter Rebecca Jones Anderson (Gary); and his grandchildren, Richard "Thomas" Jr. and Kia Hardison (Andrew). He is also survived by twelve grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
