He is survived by: his children, Mindy Mills of Hollister, NC, Sallie Evans of Rocky Mount, NC and Ellis Alston (Kaja) of Hollister, NC; and his siblings, Shirley Silver (John) of Hampton, VA and Thurman Mills (Nita) of Warrenton, NC. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
