He was predeceased by: his parents, William Batson Whitehurst and Nora Casper Whitehurst Stroud; and his son William Joseph Whitehurst, Jr.. He is survived by: his daughters, Billie Jo Lang (Melvin) of Rocky Mount, NC, Bobbie Jo Butler of Rocky Mount, NC, Bettie Jo Walker (Ricky) of Rocky Mount, NC, Tiffany Jean Crocker (Sterling) of Windsor, VA and Tammy JoAnn Whitehurst of Rocky Mount, NC; and his siblings, Frances Futrell (Wayne) of Rich Square, NC and Robert Earl Whitehusrt (Jo) of Lufkin, TX.. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; and thirteen great grandchildren.
