He is survived by: his children, James Corey Mitchell (Ursula) of Jamaica, NY, Nikkia Denise Mitchell of Virginia Beach, Carolyn Jefferson (Alton) and Joyce Turner (Vernon Kitabu) of Virginia Beach; his siblings, Pauline Roscoe of Waterbury, CT, Helen Mitchell, Fannie Mae Mitchell of Elizabeth City, NC and Allen Mitchell (Shirley) of Elizabeth City, NC.; his grandchildren, James Mitchell, Jr., Steven Alton Jefferson, Cheryl Whitney Jefferson, DuWayne Daniels, Bryce Daniels, DaShena Bennett and Dominique Thomas; his great grandchildren, McKenzie Thomas, Tanasha Chappell and Tyreek Chappell; and his cousins, Willie Brown (Snowball), Barbara Riddick, Allen Kee (June) and Georgia Hutchinson. He is also survived by cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
