He was predeceased by : his father Samuel Eugene; his wife Betty Bivins Holmes; and his siblings, Ruth Patton, Margaret Holmes White and Jim Holmes.

He is survived by : his children, Tommy Jr. (Kelly), Kim (Ray) and James (Suzanne); his grandchildren, Thomas, Justin, Toby Holmes, Chris, Taylor Daniel, Dresden and Beau Holmes; his great grandchildren, Jase Landis, Raelynn and Landon Holmes; and his brother Fletcher Holmes. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Orange Grove Volunteer Fire Department, 6800 Orange Grove Rd. Hillsborough 27278 or Cane Creek Baptist Church, 6901 Orange Grove Rd. Hillsborough, 27278.
