He was predeceased by: his father Bobby Rufus Oakley; his grandparents, Hattie Lee, Victor Carpenter, Lethia and June Oakley; and his grandson Zackery Thornton.
He is survived by: his mother Joyce Ann Eakes; his stepmother Faye Oakley; his wife Linda Lee Oakley; his children, Michael Dwayne Oakley, Jr. (Liz), David Lee (Liz), Melinda Wilson Evans (Matt) and Brandy Lee (Mike); his siblings, Barry Oakley (Lila), David Oakley (Kim), Vic Oakley (Andrea), Douglas Sasser (Linda) and Melisa Allison; his grandchildren, Nicole Ezzell, Hannah Oakley, Kaylin Oakley, Chloe Oakley, Alaina Oakley, Blain Dunn, Blair Hanna and April Spencer; and his great grandchildren, Jayden Ezzell, Baylee Ezzell, Hayden Smith, Kylie Hammond, Jeremy Hammond, Jr., Ella Hammond, Thomas Spencer and Jaxson Spencer.
Hudson Funeral Home will be observing social distancing for visitation as well as the funeral service, and asks everyone in attendance to wear a mask when entering the building.
