He was predeceased by: his stepfather William Gordon Stainback; and his siblings, Mary Braxton, Louise Stainback Jones and Andy Colson. He is survived by: his nieces and nephews, Michelle M. Jones, Joshua M. Jones, Joel Colson, Tony Colson, Larry G. Braxton and Pery "Peanut" Atkinson; and also Sylvia Wood.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Union Grove United Methodist Church to defray the costs of cremation.
