He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Brown Buchanan and Junie Mae Whisnant Buchanan; and his siblings, Lilly Mae "Bunny" Bolick, Roy Buchanan and Claude Buchanan.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Yount Buchanan; his children, Charles "Chuck" Buchanan Jr. (Wendy) and Kimberly Ewing (Mark); his grandchildren, Colleen, Molly Buchanan, Kaitlyn and Andrew Ewing; and his sister Mary Sigmon. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
