He was predeceased by: his parents, Fayette Harold and Esther Naomi Kerns; and his stepson Jonathan Herstek. He is survived by: his wife Mary "Penny"; his children, Kristine Thrush (Dan) and David Kerns (Jen); his stepson Robert Herstek (Annette); his brother Richard Kerns (Bev); and his grandchildren, Courtney (Nick), Austin, Logan, Payton, Thomas and Samantha.
