He was predeceased by: his parents, Czechoslovakia and Marie Kreysa Melvin (William Harvey Melvin); and his siblings, Pauline Melvin Stevenson and Paul Douglas Melvin. He is survived by: his wife Margie Edwards Melvin; his daughter Elizabeth "Betsy" Melvin Batten; his son-in-law Wise Batten, Jr.; his grandsons, Wise Henry Batten III and William Rhain Batten; his brother William Melvin; and his brother-in-law Donnie Edwards (Linda). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
