He is survived by: his wife Veda Sanders Sherard; his sister-in-law Joan Sanders; his son-in-law Robert P Bethea (Leslie); his adoptive son David Jones (Vesta); his daughters, Laura Sherard Mitchell (George) and Robin Sherard Ritchie (James); his adoptive daughter Marwen Payne McDowell (Stewart); his grandsons, Robert P. Bethea Jr. (Joy), Hardin Sherard Bethea (Dowell) and Tyson Andrew Morris (Kim); his great grandchildren, Ridge, Elloise, Nora, Samuel, Hunter, Wyatt, Beau, Hardin, Veda Kate and Penny Jane; his nieces and nephews, Sherri Hamilton, Paige Parsons, Hugh Hamilton, Mark and Sandy Sanders; and his cousin Rufus Sherard (Mary).
