He was predeceased by: his parents, William Houston and Lelia Bolick Houston; his children, William Earl Houston and Trina Lynn Houston; and his siblings, Lorena Phillips and Frank Houston.

He is survived by: his wife Katrinka "Kay"; and his children, Daniel Houston (Robbin), Teresa Creighton (Jack) and Rita Staffelbach (Bob). He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
