It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of William Atkinson of High Point, North Carolina, who passed away on July 29, 2020, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Elder Samuel Tipton Atkinson, Sr. and Callie Beamer Atkinson; his siblings, Annie Atkinson, Samuel Atkinson, Jr., Rae Beck Logan and Virginia Lisenby; and his wife Mary Lou Joyce Atkinson.

He is survived by: his daughters, Lisa Atkinson McKinnon (Bobby) of Archdale and Beth Atkinson Edmondson (Jack) of Rocky Mount; his granddaughter Caroline Edmondson of Rocky Mount; and his brother-in-law Ralph Logan.

Due to Covid-19, no formal visitation will be held with the family; however, Bill will lie in state on Saturday, August 1, 2020 from 2:00 until 4:00 p. m. at Cumby Family Funeral Service at 1015 Eastchester Drive in High Point.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Westchester Baptist Church or a charity of one's choice.
