She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph Gaither and Margaret Snyder Walser; and her husband Stephen "Francis" Hicks. She is survived by: her daughter Mary Cunningham (George) of Wake Forest; her grandchildren, Sarah Moeller (Peter) and George "Sonny" Cunningham (Lauren); her great grandchildren, Sands, Hunt Moeller and Reynolds Cunningham; and her brothers, Joe Walser (Cathy) of Wilmington, Tom Walser (Terri) of Greensboro and John Walser (Debbie) of Apex.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina or Habitat for Humanity of Forsyth County.
