He was predeceased by: his parents, Matthew Zol and Thelma Key Tate; and his wife Brenda Cox Tate. He is survived by: his siblings, Judy Tate Bryant of Kernersville, Charlie Tate (Angela) of Kernersville and Jerry Tate (Jan) of Sarasota, FL; his son Steven Tate; his grandchildren, Sarah Cavataio (Tony) and Nicholas Tate; and his nieces and nephews, Crystal Perry (David), Misty Tate Long (Brandon), Corey Tate (Ashley) and Logan Tate (Abbey). He is also survived by three great nephews, and four great nieces.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made in his honor to Shady Grove Wesleyan Church 119 N Bunker Hill Rd, Colfax, NC 27235.
