He was predeceased by: his parents, Vander McCray and Jessie Blevins McCray; his daughter Marianna Kapish; and his siblings, Ramona Briley, Vander McCray, Jr. and Eugene McCray.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Pinter McCray; and his children, Margaret Christian (David), Elizabeth Meindl (Bobby), Joan Martin, Ralph McCray, Jr., Joseph McCray and Thomas McCray. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
