She was predeceased by: her parents, William Luther Griffin and Mattie Ida Brown Griffin; her husband Robert Henry McGowan; her son Robert Reid McGowan; and her siblings, William Franklin Griffin, Floyd Thomas Griffin, Ray Griffin, Paul Griffin, Carol Herndon and Martha Griffin.
She is survived by: her children, Rosemary McGowan of High Point and Thomas Neil McGowan (Heidi) of Virginia; her sister Lois Elma Griffin; her daughter-in-law Jocelyn McGowan of South Carolina; and her great great grandchild Molly.
