He was predeceased by: his parents, Vernon Galphin and Lillian Webb Vaughan of Abbeville, SC; and his brothers, W. C., Ollie, Rollie and Vernon.

He is survived by: his wife Gerry Brown Vaughan; his children, Karen Stone (David) of High Point, NC and Alan Vaughan (Margaret) of Belleair, FL; his grandchildren, Reed, Charles and Madison Vaughan; and his sister-in-law Patricia Vaughan Bryant. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
