He was predeceased by: his parents, Joel Tate and Vennie Tate; and his siblings, Billy Joe, Ricky and Carol.
He is survived by: his wife Nancy Tate; his children, Cindy Rice (Kerry) of High Point, Tonya Gibbs of Marion and Todd Gibbs (Missy) of Marion; his sister Judy; and also Carolyn Stiller. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
