He was predeceased by: his parents, James Raymond Ashby and Susie Chamberlain Wray; his wife Ann Wilson Ashby; his daughter Deborah "Debi" Ashby Watson; and his brothers, Jerry Wayne Ashby and Jimmy L. Ashby.
He is survived by: his daughters, Kathy Ashby Ritch of Thomasville and Pamela "Pam" Raye McLamb (Troy) of Trinity; his son-in-law Bruce Watson of High Point; his grandchildren, Dustin Ritch (Sheila) of Davenport, Mandy Hardin (Robert) of Sophia, Sam McLamb (Jessica) of Trinity, Millie Watson of Greensboro and Meredith Watson of Greensboro; his great grandchildren, Brinley, Grady, Luke, Colton, Lena, Sadie and Liam; and his sister-in-law Betty Wilson Maines (Winston) of Thomasville. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
