He is survived by: his son George Henderson Smith IV; and his sister Judy King of High Point.

“I'm saddened to find this news. No one in the family informed me of Uncle George's passing. The last time we spoke was at Grandma Smith's funeral. Uncle George told me to let him know if I was having anymore problems with the people who raised me, to let him know. Uncle George was the only one who ever voiced concern to me about being sexually molested as a child. I am eternally grateful for his loving support and the fact he was the only one in the family that came to my rescue. I Love You!”
