With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Emma Currie (High Point, North Carolina), who passed away on April 10, 2020 at the age of 76. She was predeceased by: her son Michael F. Raper; her grandson Michael I. Raper; and her siblings, Delores Wilkins, Donald T. Bohannon and Frank Bohannon.

She is survived by: her sons, Ernest D. Raper of Greensboro, NC, Darryl Raper (Michelle) of High Point, NC and Roland Farabee (Angie) of High Point, NC; her niece Sheila Bohannon of Atlanta, GA; her sister-in-law Patricia Broadie; and her friends, Betty Smith and Patsy Battle. She is also survived by six grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren.

“My mother may have pushed everyone out of the way to meet Emma so that she could thank her for keeping me grounded and for treating me like a daughter. Emma was the best gift God and my father gave me. I will cherish every moment she and I shared. I will miss her. However, she is in a better place. I love her very much.”

“Emma was like a mother to me. The year my mother was murdered I met Emma and her boys. They treated me like a baby sister. Although I am a couple of years older than June-Bug (Roland Farbee), he treated me like a baby sister. I never called Emma my stepmother because the word sounded so wicked. I always called her my second mother. She lead the fight for my father to find me or she was going to leave him. Finding me was the best thing he ever did for me. I gained a God fearing mother.”
