He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie Elmer Carden and Sarah Hines Carden; and his wife Betty Jones Carden. He is survived by: his daughter Donna Carden Cordell (Brownie) of Wilmington, NC; his granddaughter Shannon Cordell Berg (Jason); and his great grandchildren, Chloe Berg and Conner Berg of Wilmington, NC..

In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be given to The River Landing Foundation, 1575 John Knox Drive, Colfax, NC 27235.
