He was predeceased by: his parents, Buren Lanier and Katherine Murph Lanier; his siblings, James Lanier and Ann Goodman; his brother-in-law George Goodman; and his nephew Patrick Goodman.

He is survived by: his sons, Scott Walser (Cheryl) and Jim Levy; his grandchildren, Megan Thore (Michael), Aidan Walser (Malory Beane), Zeb Walser (Taylor) and Lexi Bodford (Derek Chavis); his great grandchildren, Alexander, Max and Savannah Thore; his niece Sharon Hatley (Mark); and his great-nephews, Matthew and Logan.
