He was predeceased by: his father O. C. Scott; and his son Jonathan Andrew Scott. He is survived by: his mother Maggie Scott; his children, Joseph "JP" Scott (Michelle Scott) and Orkelle Latrese Little (Zachary Little); his grandsons, Joseph Grayson Scott and Liam Andrew Little; and his siblings, William Scott (Catherine Scott), John Anthony Scott (Debra Scott), Linda Scott and Virgina Scott. He is also survived by his children and grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
