He was predeceased by: his parents, James Cleveland Gilreath and Grace Dean Kerley Gilreath; his wife Elizabeth Ann Campbell Gilreath; and his siblings, Doras, Boyd, Edsel, Jack, Robert "Bob" Gilreath, Mildred Smith, Dorothy "Dot" G. Harrington, Lucille G. Lovette, Margaret Jean Mountcastle and Betty G. Smith.
He is survived by: his pet Friskie; his children, Lesia Barkley (Fred) of Taylorsville and Mark "Chuck" Gilreath (Debbie) of Hiddenite; his sisters, Alice Robertson of Taylorsville, Mittiena Johnson of Charleston, SC and Bonnie Osmer (Fred) of Taylorsville; his grandchildren, Will Barkley (Brooke), Katie Gilreath, Katelyn Gilreath (Matt), Emma Barkley and Savannah Bapties; and his great grandchildren, Willow, Analeise and Payton. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
