He was predeceased by: his parents, James Donald Durmire, Sr. and Lola Faye Smith Durmire; and his siblings, Marie Brown, Brenda Deal and Clyde Durmire.
He is survived by: his wife Lydia Jean Revis Durmire; his children, Shelby Stewart (Donnie) of Statesville, Cindy Durmire of Hiddenite, Donnie Sherrill (Tonya) of Statesville and Robert Preston Durmire (Nancy) of Knoxville, TN; his grandchildren, Brandon Lee Hill (Katie), Ericka Horne (Cameron), Loren Stewart, Holly Walker (Josh), Cassandra Durmire (Matthew Johnson) and Nick Doreo; his brother Stan Durmire (Carolyn) of Hiddenite; and his siblings-in-law, Jimmy Deal, Sylvia Jean Durmire and Nancy Livengood. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
