He was predeceased by: his parents, Sherrill Elliott and Dessie McLean Elliott; his wife Virginia Lexine Gwaltney Elliott; his son Jackson Claywood Jr.; his grandson Darren Daniels; and his siblings, Sylvlene Akers, Virgil Elliott and Greer Elliott.
He is survived by: his children, Diane Daniels (Dale Lackey) of Hiddenite and Danny Elliott (Debbie) of Hiddenite; his brother Marcus Elliott (Cathy) of Statesville; and his close friend Andy Barnes. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild.
