It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Roosevelt Magness (Hickory, North Carolina), who passed away on April 16, 2025, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. As we bid farewell to this luminous soul, let his loved ones carry forward the torch of his memory, illuminating the path ahead with the warmth of his love and the brilliance of his spirit. Though Roosevelt may journey beyond the horizon of our sight, his essence remains woven into the very fabric of our being — a guiding light in the darkness, a beacon of hope in the night.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Zelda Magness and Nathaniel Oates; his siblings, Jimmy Oates, Mary Elizabeth Morrison Davis and Doris Martin; and his pets, Savannah, Randy and Apollo.
He is survived by: his girlfriend Jeanne Fleming; his nephew Steven Davis; and his brothers, Nathaniel Oates and Charles Oates. He is also survived by cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation was held on Thursday, April 24th 2025 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at the Hartzell Memorial United Methodist (465 S Center St, Hickory, NC 28602). A funeral service was held on Thursday, April 24th 2025 from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM at the same location.
