She is survived by: her husband Tom Abernathy; her sons, Chris Abernathy (Lisa) of Lenoir and Jamie Abernathy of Hickory; her grandchildren, Bryan Abernathy (Megan) of Creedmoor, NC, Paden Abernathy of Raleigh and Madison Abernathy of Lenoir; and her siblings, Kay Propst of Newton, Lewis Wilson of Sherrills Ford, NC and Melvin Wilson of Sherrills Ford.

Memorials may be made to Burke Chapel United Methodist Church, 6350 George Hildebran School Road, Hickory, NC 28602.
