It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Nannie Funderburk Hourihan of Hickory, North Carolina, born in Columbia, South Carolina, who passed away on September 26, 2024, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Though Nannie may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Nannie touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In her absence, her spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Clarence Funderburk and Annie Ruth Holland Funderburk; her husband John Joseph Hourihan, Jr.; and her sister Mary Ruth Harrison. She is survived by: her children, Darrin Hourihan (Donna) of Hickory and Karen Johnson (James) of Mint Hill; her grandsons, Zachary Johnson of Mint Hill and Joseph Ryan Johnson (Amber) of Bowie, MD; and her brother Larry Funderburk (Sandra) of Columbia, SC..
Visitation was held on Monday, September 30th 2024 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at the Viewmont Baptist Church (1246 2nd St NE, Hickory, NC 28601). A celebration of life was held on Monday, September 30th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
