He was predeceased by: his parents, Jones Robert Greenhill and Murtice Rogers Greenhill; his wife Rosalie Anna Young Greenhill; his siblings, John, Lee J., Glenn Greenhill and Mary "Sis" Matthews; and his half-sister Katie Johnston.

He is survived by: his children, Harold Greenhill (Debbie) of Hildebran, Leonard Greenhill Jr. (Toni) of Hickory and Kathy Greenhill Delgatti (Michael) of Winston-Salem; his grandchildren, Olivia Graham (Chris) of Hickory, Lauren Hinnant (Chris) of Halifax, Lillie Lingle (Jason) of Granite Falls, Taylor Delgatti of Raleigh, Chase Delgatti of Winston-Salem and Bobby Greenhill (Kennedy Stilwell) of Hickory; his great grandchildren, Boone Hinnant, Maggie Hinnant and Deacon Greenhill; and his half-sister Ruth Proctor. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
