He was predeceased by: his parents, Beeler M. Leonhardt and Lucy Pauline Martin Leonhardt. He is survived by: his wife Cheryl Faulkenbury Leonhardt; and his son Robert Dale Leonhardt. He is also survived by four grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
