It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of John Clayton Bumgarner of Hickory, North Carolina, who passed away on December 27, 2024, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Marvin Eugene and Johnsie Raby Bumgarner; his son John Clayton Bumgarner II; his granddaughter Summer Rose Aitken; his siblings, Marvin Lewis Bumgarner, Tommy Wayne Bumgarner, Doris Shull and Ora Lee Milligan; and his in-laws, Foy and Berlie Deal.

He is survived by: his wife Ethel Kay Bumgarner; his siblings, Carroll Ray Bumgarner (Palma Jane) of Granite Falls, Robert Bumgarner (Gene) of Hickory and Betty Asherbramer of Hickory; his sister-in-law Jane Bumgarner (Carolyn Deal) of Conover; and his grandson Anthony Scott Bumgarner.
