He is survived by: his wife Susan Powell Newton; his daughters, Ashley Dawn Newton of Hickory, Lauren Newton Everley (Matt) of Hickory and Lindsey Newton Hewitt of Hickory; his sisters, June N. Cook (Henry) of Greensboro, GA and Jill N. Londeree (Brown) of Matthews, NC; his grandchildren, Kailey, Luke (Matthew Durham), Harper, Hayden (Hallie Everley) and Trystan McClain (Payton Hewitt); and also, Steve T. Cottle (Lissa), Storie Bergquist (Shawn), Zachary Cottle, Cameo Powell Strack (Todd), Kelsey Sigmon and Farryn Presnell.
The family requests memorials be made to the Piedmont Educational Foundation of Lenoir Rhyne University.
