He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Elmore Setzer and Sadie Belle Stilwell Setzer. He is survived by: his wife Judy Winkler Setzer; his sons, Scott Edward Setzer (Heather) of Connelly Springs and Jeff Roger Setzer (Angie) of Hickory; his grandchildren, Ashlyn Setzer of Hickory, Jarrett Setzer of Connelly Springs, Abbey Setzer of Connelly Springs, Preston Setzer of Hickory, Connor Setzer of Connelly Springs and Kennedy Setzer of Connelly Springs; and his siblings, Wilma Hefner of Hickory and Gary Setzer (Carolyn) of Hickory. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Winkler's Grove Baptist Church, Senior Stars, 3320 9th Ave Dr. NW, Hickory, NC 28601.
