She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert William Broyhill and Florence Decker Broyhill; her husband George Elbert Smith; her daughter Theresa S. Profit; her siblings, Jeannie B. Pike and Earl E. Broyhill; and her grandson George Nelson Owenby.
She is survived by: her daughters, Rita S. Sigmon of Hickory and Donna S. Hourihan (Darrin) of Hickory; her siblings, Rosalee B. Wilcox (Lee) of Lenoir and Gary Broyhill (Sheryl) of Lenoir; and her grandchildren, George Owenby (Sharon), Beth Daniels, Angela West (Jeremy), Chris Atkins, Britennee Smith (Josh) and Renia Layne (Luke). She is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren.
