We are sad to announce that on August 17, 2024, at the age of 86, Edward Whaley Rion of Hickory, North Carolina, born in York, South Carolina passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Preston Rion and Sadie Smith Rion. He is survived by: his wife Judith Grogg Rion; his children, David Thomas Preston Rion (Jill) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Chris Rion of Concord, Robert Rion (Phyllis) of Pickens, SC, Jon Rion and Amber Rion Bitting of Charleston; his siblings, Duke W. Rion of Charlotte and Sara Smith (Bill) of Griffin, GA; and also, Dink Rion, George Rion and Billy Rion (William). He is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
