He was predeceased by: his parents, Patrick Stephens and Iva Yoder Stephens of Hickory; his wife Louise; and his brothers, Howard, Wade and Hosea.
He is survived by: his sons, Rick Stephens (Tammy) of Boone and Scott Stephens of Boone; his grandsons, Brett Stephens of Boone, Eric Stephens of Boone and Marc Stephens (Brittany) of Denver, CO; and his great grandchild Cameron Stephens of Boone.
